The Oakland Athletics is considering the Las Vegas Tropicana site for a new stadium.

Back in May, the Oakland A’s received a green light from MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred to seek relocation to Las Vegas, and since then the team has been looking at potential locations and talking with city leaders.

A recent report said the team has made an offer on the property where the Tropicana stands: 35 acres at the corner of Tropicana and the Strip.

Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson said in a statement: “As we have seen with the NHL and the NFL, Las Vegas is a great place to have a pro team. We have the best fans in the country and if this comes to fruition, it would be very exciting to welcome Major League Baseball to our community.”

Governor Steve Sisolak said: “I have talked to the folks from the Oakland A's a couple of weeks back. That wasn't one of the sites they mentioned to me. They did mention to me it's on the corner of Trop and Dean Martin.”

Since the news about the team’s relocation has spread, reports say the As' search uncovered about 20 initial sites of interest; the team said it would release the finalists after the World Series.

The Tropicana site would be easy access for visitors as it’s near the interstate. Additionally, market research has revealed that the team’s fanbase would not only be local but would consist of tourists too.

In April, the Tropicana was purchased by Bally’s for $308m. However, Bally’s did not comment on this matter.
